Thank you, Brentwood City Council, for allowing us to vote on the local control initiative. I signed the petition in January because we should decide what happens to our city, not outsiders.
Some people think we need more growth to help get our economy going again. Some friends of mine say that growth is ultimately not a good thing. To me, regardless of where you stand on development, it is obvious that Brentwood’s voters and council should make decisions that effect Brentwood.
In addition, safety for our students should be a priority for all. The ongoing traffic problems cause by the American Avenue cul-de-sac is an accident waiting to happen.
Right now the Board of Supervisors and the voters of the whole county decide on our future. We have the right to make decisions for ourselves. I am voting Yes.
